AN167158  1959. Built in motor was removed Carbons did not need to be replaced. A FEW drops of synthetic oil added to bearings. Aluminum Body. ALL gears are metal. Internals are steel. Straight stitch only. Slant Shank. An easily elevated Throat Plate for Darning and Embroidery. Excellent condition cosmetically with a few SMALL scrapes on Bed and the lettering on the Handwheel side is rubbed off in a few spots. Everything Works as it should. Fits standard 15 x 1 needles. One foot. ALL the other Slant Shank attachments are easily acquired. Comes with a few needles and Bobbins. NEW Foot Control cord. Power cord is original but soft and flexible without problems. This was found in the correct LIGHTWEIGHT 2pc Carry Case which is free of chipping or cracks. THIS case is found broken most of the time or with JUST the lower part of the case intact. (Most of the time you will see the wooden drop over and latch case which is HEAVYYYY! Try lugging that one around for any length of time. It negates the weight of the machine which is Aluminum.)  The lower part of the case has the elongated extension Bed. There is some internal staining to lower case from oils from the Sewer. The Sewer also needs new rubber feet which I did not have but easily acquired. While Sewer sits in the lower case the case supports the Sewer. Original Singer Foot Control which gives a nice range of speeds. No manual but an excellent one is available at the Singer Web Site for free as a PDF File. 30 POUNDS WITH PACKING.

is the most expensive of the big 3 shippers. UPS, FEDEX, AND USPS. Some of you as buyers and sellers will argue about this BUT these things I'm about to list have happened to me! Keep in mind I have been selling and shipping Sewers since 1997 on eBay. For me it has everything to do with weight AND SIZE as we all know many OLDER Sewing Machines ARE heavy. Business and marketing practices of the big three are also a major concern.
We will start off with UPS: They, UPS WANT us to let THEM pack the heavy item for shipping because they supposedly know how to do it correctly as they are in  the business!?. I'm also sure that is true in MANY cases as most homeowners do not know the correct way to pack a heavy item. If I ship a heavy Sewer by UPS, Ground, 2 or 3 day shipping and it gets damaged in transit they will state the item was not packaged correctly and they will not cover the damage no matter what the situation is. This has happened to me. Also the expedited shipping from UPS is usually the most expensive of the 3.
FedEx is a bit different. When you ship a HEAVY, LARGER item, the key word here is HEAVY AND LARGER ITEM, by FedEx and you use the calculator. The price quoted is NOT what I'm going to be charged to my account. When one signs up with FedEx an account is formed and I am able to print a label for the item being shipped and the cost is not deducted from my account UNTIL it reaches its final destination. AFTER the item gets there FedEx charges me various price increases BECAUSE of the added weight and routing differences THEY incurred getting it to its final location. Keep in mind these charges do not show up until later. I have been charged between 20 and 40 % more for the shipping over and above what I was quoted!! That HAS happened to me. Try to explain that to a Buyer! Also expedited shipping from FedEx is also more expensive than the USPS.
The USPS lets me print the labels, with the exact price quoted and paid through PayPal so I know exactly what I'm being charged. If it is insured, which I do on most HEAVY ITEMS and it does have a problem they normally are very helpful. Basically the USPS is the least problematic of the 3 evils for me as they ALL have their problems. If you're looking for a less expensive alternative for shipping HEAVY SEWERS I'm sorry to say you're not going to see it from me.
The longer it takes for an item to get to its final destination the more possibilities of damage no matter WHO the carrier is. I use the fastest way to ship these HEAVY items. They ALL have expedited shipping with USPS, the least expensive of the 3.
